Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 30, 2026

Bills & Beans (“Bills & Beans,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) publishes articles on coffee, personal finance, and civil liberties at billsandbeans.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Information you provide directly. If you sign up for our email list, leave a comment, or contact us directly, we collect what you provide — typically your name and email address.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site — which pages get read, how people arrive here, and general audience patterns. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies (such as device identifiers) to collect information including your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and time spent on the Site. This data is aggregated and does not identify you by name.

Cookies. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them, and allow Google to use them, to operate and improve the Site and, where applicable, to serve and measure advertising. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; blocking cookies may affect how parts of the Site function.

Advertising

We plan to display advertising on the Site through Google AdSense and similar ad networks. When ads are active, Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance. This is sometimes called “interest-based” or “personalized” advertising.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings or, for non-personalized options generally, www.aboutads.info/choices. We do not knowingly direct targeted advertising at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy practices:

  • Google Analytics — site traffic and usage measurement. See Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
  • Google AdSense (planned) — advertising, once active.
  • Our email service provider (once our email list launches) — used solely to send you the updates you sign up for.
  • WordPress / our hosting provider — the platform and infrastructure that runs the Site.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices

You can decline non-essential cookies through your browser settings, opt out of Google’s personalized advertising using the links above, and unsubscribe from our email list at any time using the link in any email we send. If you’d like us to delete information we hold about you, contact us using the details below and we’ll respond as required by applicable law.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example as our advertising or email practices change. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above when we do. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the update.
